November 1 — The Dutch Senate today adopted a motion calling on its government to “support any proposal” to remove the Iranian regime from the UN Women’s Rights Commission.
UN Watch, an independent non-governmental human rights group based in Geneva, has drafted a resolution for the 54-nation UN Economic Social Council (ECOSOC) to remove Iran. UN Watch holds special consultative status at ECOSOC.
Other governments that support the removal of Iran include Canada, New Zealand, and the United States.

Having heard the deliberations,
Noting that the Iranian regime is using extreme violence to quash demonstrations for greater freedom for women and girls;
Noting that as a result, hundreds are estimated to have been killed and thousands injured;
Noting that Iran is a member of the UN Commission on Women’s Rights;
Noting that the Government of New Zealand has appealed to UN member states to call for Iran’s removal from the UN Commission on Women’s Rights;
Whereas a clear sign of disapproval against the Iranian regime is needed;
Whereas New Zealand is leading by example in this regard;
Requests the government to call, on behalf of the Netherlands, for Iran’s removal from the UN Commission on Women’s Rights and to support any proposal made to that end;
and moves on to the order of the day.
