Analysis

• This one-sided resolution ignores claims of 900,000 Jewish refugees displaced from Arab lands as a result of the Israeli-Arab wars. It also repeats previous statements, the sole purpose of which is to censure Israel, and is redundant to other resolutions. It prejudges negotiations.
• Furthermore, although current conflicts and crises are creating millions of refugees today, the General Assembly does not address any of these situations in a similar resolution on refugees. For example, the General Assembly has not adopted any resolutions on the civil war in Yemen or the Venezuela crisis (each of which has generated millions of displaced people) or the Libya conflict which has generated hundreds of thousands of displaced people. Therefore, this clearly singles out Israel for condemnation.
