Can Dündar

Can Dündar is an award-winning Turkish journalist who has been arrested and forced into exile for his reporting. In 2015, Dündar made international headlines after revealing footage proving Turkish intelligence agencies were arming terrorist groups in the Syrian Civil War. Because of his reporting, Dündar was jailed on trumped-up “espionage” charges. After a failed assassination attempt and the promise of a prison sentence, Dündar was forced to flee Turkey in 2016. Since then, he has been sentenced in absentia to over 27 years in prison. Despite this, he continues his brave journalism, and has emerged as a leading figure in Turkey’s fight for democracy and human rights.
