Edmundo González Urrutia is a Venezuelan politician, analyst, and diplomat. He was the presidential candidate for the opposition’s Unitary Platform in the 2024 Venezuelan presidential election. Prior to his candidacy, González had a long diplomatic career, serving as Venezuela’s ambassador to Algeria and Argentina. He has also been involved in the opposition as the international representative for the Democratic Unity Roundtable and later as president of the Unitary Platform.

Following the disputed 2024 election, in which he was widely recognized as the winner by many democratic nations, González was the target of persecution by the Maduro government. An arrest warrant was issued against him, and he sought refuge in the Spanish embassy in Caracas. He was granted asylum and now lives in exile in Madrid.
