Rebecca Kabuo

Rebecca Kabuo is a human rights activist from the Democratic Republic of Congo who has been called the youngest prisoner of conscience in the world. At age 19, Kabuo joined the non-violent Lutte pour le Changement (LUCHA) (“Fight for Change”) and called for respect of democracy, fundamental freedoms and the law in the DRC. Kabuo was arrested for the first time in March 2015 and was describe by international media as the youngest political prisoner in the world. She has since been arrested more than a dozen other times during peaceful protests and tortured by police and state security services.
