Marzieh Hamidi

Marzieh Hamidi is an Afghan-Iranian taekwondo athlete and women’s rights activist. She trained between Iran and Afghanistan before fleeing after the Taliban takeover in 2021 and rebuilding her sporting career with the French national team at INSEP. Hamidi has become an international voice for women’s rights, speaking at institutions including the French National Assembly and UNESCO to denounce repression in Afghanistan. She now lives in France under police protection due to threats linked to her activism, and continues to compete and advocate for women’s freedom.
