Antonietta Ledezma

Antonietta Ledezma is the daughter of former Caracas mayor and political prisoner Antonio Ledezma. Antonio Ledezma is a prominent opposition leader who was effectively removed from office by the Venezuelan regime in 2009 after winning a mandate to govern Caracas. He was arrested in 2015 and accused of conspiring to overthrow the government, spending two years in detention and under house arrest before a daring escape in 2017. Antonietta Ledezma was a fierce advocate for her father’s release and remains a key activist calling for the rebuilding of democracy in Venezuela.
