Fadzayi Mahere is a leading Zimbabwean democracy activist who has been arrested multiple times. After joining the #Thisflag Citizens Movement led by Pastor Evan Mawarire in 2016, Mahere became one of the most recognized youth activists in the country. This made her a target of ZANU-PF, the ruling party of Zimbabwe. As a result, Mahere has persistently been harassed and arrested multiple times on trumped up charges, such as inciting public violence. Mahere is the National Spokesperson for Zimbabwe’s main opposition party, and regularly contributes to The Guardian, with pieces on the human rights crisis in Zimbabwe.
