Hadeel Kouki

Hadeel Kouki is a Syrian human rights activist who was arrested in 2011 for distributing pro-revolutionary flyers attacking the regime of Bashar Al-Assad. During her detainment, Kouki was given access to no legal counsel and kept in solitary confinement. In 2012 Syrian state forces broke into Kouki’s home in Cairo, threatened her and beat her severely. She has since successfully sought asylum in a Western country.
