OPPOSING U.N. STATUS FOR HAMAS FRONT GROUP
UN Watch sounded the alarm when the London-based “Palestinian Return Center”—a Hamas front group active across Europe—applied to the UN for NGO observer status, enabling it to participate at influential gatherings. UN Watch’s appeal to block the group was covered by Fox News (see below), Times of Israel and Middle East Monitor.
Regrettably, the UN committee—comprised of Iran and Sudan, major backers of Hamas who aided the group’s application, and Pakistan, Turkey,Venezuela, China and Cuba, approved the request.
However, a notable minority including the UK, France, and 10 other countries backed Israel in opposing the Hamas group.

UN Watch claims the PRC has regularly hosted Palestinian officials, including Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, at its annual conferences and has strong ties to top Hamas officials. “Despite its pose as pro-Palestinian human rights group, the PRC is one of the few Palestinian advocacy groups to have been banned by Israel, on ac- count of its deep entanglement with top leaders of the Hamas terrorist organization based in Gaza and abroad,” UN Watch said in a news release.
