On April 5, 2025, Francesca Albanese reposted a post on X by Trita Parsi saying: “Despite disingenuous efforts to have her fired, the UN human rights council voted to keep hey [sic.] in the position as UN rapporteur for the Palestinian territories till 2028!”
This was false. There was no vote. This is clear from the April 4, 2025 UN WebTV video of the last meeting of the 58th session where some Special Procedure mandate-holders were appointed (namely, the Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples), but Albanese’s re-appointment was not discussed.
