2025 GALA SPECIAL GUEST
Sophia Aram
With a regular segment on French public radio, Sophia Aram is renowned for her witty and fearless critique on contentious social and political issues. She has built a career pushing boundaries, using her trademark satire to champion women’s rights and free speech, while fighting radical Islamism and antisemitism.
A seasoned performer, Aram has written and starred in numerous stand-up shows. Her latest, Le Monde d’après, won the prestigious 2024 Molière de l’Humour Award, the highest honor in French theater. In a viral acceptance speech (video below) that shook the entertainment industry, Aram denounced the “deafening silence” of the cultural world on the Hamas massacre of October 7th, 2023.
“We who enjoy the freedom to raise our voices on every French channel or to shout our outrage over anything and everything in opinion columns — I believe we should also pay attention to our silences. Amid the din of our easy indignations, the silence, even relative, after October 7th — when 1,200 Israelis were massacred — is deafening.”
For her moral clarity, unflinching voice, and unwavering defense of universal human rights—even when it means standing alone—UN Watch is proud to honor Sophia Aram with the 2025 Per Ahlmark Award. In an era when too many choose silence or complicity, Aram’s courage reminds us that the fight against antisemitism and fanaticism is also a fight for our shared humanity.
