UN Watch in the News — March 2025

UN Watch was quoted in media outlets around the world in March 2025 for our speeches at the U.N. Human Rights Council and on numerous topics including our work calling out Saudi Arabia’s chairmanship to the U.N. Women’s Rights Commission.

Key Quote:

The Islamic regime in Iran sees the nuclear threat as essential to their regime. They also see the subjugation of women as essential to their regime. The only language that Tehran understands is pressure—maximum pressure—whether it’s economic, diplomatic or strategic.

Key Quote:

The UN was founded on noble principles and to promote humanitarianism, human rights, security for all. Sadly, when it comes to the Arab-Israeli conflict, the UN is not the firefighter. They are the arsonists. If you look at UNRWA, which we’ve been talking about, the Palestinians and the Hamas, terrorists who invaded Israel, were mostly educated by UNRWA, and they were acting out what they were taught. The UN is acting in the name of humanitarianism but actually they are only encouraging war and terrorism.

Featured in The Spectator, “Has the UN hit rock bottom?,” March 14, 2025:

As the superb organisation UN Watch points out, the UNCSW has never passed a single resolution regarding Saudi Arabia’s treatment of women – and now, grotesquely, has rewarded it with the chair. More egregious still, of course, is UNRWA. Last year UN Watch exposed a Telegram chat group of 3,000 UNRWA teachers, many celebrating 7 October, and the identities of dozens of UNRWA staff who participated were revealed.

Hillel Neuer quoted in The Jerusalem Post, “The UN’s war on Israel is hypocrisy on display,” March 21, 2025:

One of the world’s most patriarchal and misogynistic regimes now chairs the Commission on the Status of Women, which is touted on the UN website as the ‘principal global intergovernmental body exclusively dedicated to the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women.’

UN Watch Legal Advisor Dina Rovner quoted in The Jerusalem Post, “Millionaire refugees: The charged debate over UNRWA’s defining policy and its future,” March 13, 2025:

Unlike every other refugee crisis in history, Palestinian refugees don’t decrease in number–they increase. UNRWA doesn’t resettle, it perpetuates. The result? A crisis that has lasted decades longer than any other.

A gutsy Yemeni Arab journalist blasted the UN and its fellow Israel haters after the U.N. High commissioner condemned Israel for its war against Hamas. Luai Ahmed, invited to speak by UN Watch, fired back: “I ask the UN, the Arab League, and everyone who has been raising the Palestinian flag since October 7: Where is the flag of Yemen? In my country, half a million people have died in the last 10 years, the biggest famine and humanitarian crisis in modern history.”

Highlighted in The Blaze, “‘Brilliance’ — Mark Levin praises Syrian activist who eviscerated 6 Muslim countries for complicity in Gaza war,” March 17, 2025:

Rawan Osman, who was there with UN Watch, a nonprofit that calls out UN hypocrisy, boldly stared diplomats from Qatar, Iran, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria in the face while she ripped into their respective countries for their complicity in the Gaza war. “It’s a minute and a half of genius, of guts, of courage,” Mark Levin said. “They put a warrant on her head, there’s no question about it.”

Featured in Jewish News Syndicate, “Sa’ar thanks Graham for ‘moral clarity’ on Israel,” March 19, 2025:

UN Watch, a group that monitors anti-Israel actions in the United Nations, has organized a petition calling for Albanese’s ouster, noting that after she denied the Oct. 7 massacre was the worst attack on Jews since the Holocaust, she became the first special rapporteur in history to be condemned for antisemitism by France, Germany and the United States.

Highlighted in The Jerusalem Post, “When Arabs kill Arabs, no one bats an eye: Pro-Israel influencer Luai Ahmed slams UNHRC,” March 1, 2025:

Pro-Israel influencer and journalist Luai Ahmed spoke at the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) this week, and accused them of hypocrisy regarding their conduct and report on Israel. Ahmed, speaking on behalf of the UN Watch NGO, then went on to directly address Volker Turk, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, asking, “Why is it that when Arabs kill millions of Arabs, no one bats an eye? Why does your report mention Israel 188 times—yet fails to mention the Islamic Republic in Iran even once?”

Hillel Neuer quoted in Jewish News Syndicate, “UN staffer hospitalized in Israel has pro-Nazi tattoos,” March 20, 2025.

Antisemitism pervades the United Nations. On April 1, the U.N.’s top human rights body is planning to renew Francesca Albanese for another three-year term as an investigator targeting Israel, even after she was recently condemned by France, Germany, Canada and the United States for antisemitism and Holocaust distortion. Keep in mind that Albanese was formerly an UNRWA official, and that in a public fundraising appeal for UNRWA, she wrote that ‘America is subjugated by the Jewish lobby.’

Featured in Camera U.K., “BBC Corrects UNIFIL Establishment Date Error,” March 2, 2025:

UN Watch and the Israeli Government’s Media office have published several posts in recent days alleging that Hezbollah had been able to operate freely and within clear sight of UN bases and posts along or near the Blue Line. UNIFIL “did nothing” as “Hezbollah was digging tunnels to invade Israel, kidnap & attack Israeli civilians… and embedding missiles in civilian homes,” says UN Watch.

Quoted in Camera U.K., “More Uncritical and Context-Free BBC Promotion of UN Allegations,” March 19, 2025:

As UN High Commissioner of Human Rights, Navi Pillay empaneled four fact-finding missions targeting Israel, more than any other country; oversaw the discredited Goldstone Report, which was later rejected by its primary author; permitted the appointment of the notoriously antisemitic Richard Falk as the Special Rapporteur for the Palestinians; and convened the 2009 Durban II conference, which was boycotted by most democracies, and provided Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad a prominent platform to disseminate antisemitic vitriol.

Featured in Women’s Agenda, “‘It’s surreal’: Outrage as Saudi Arabia chairs the UN Commission on the Status of Women,” March 12, 2025:

Hillel Neuer, Executive Director of UN Watch, a non-profit dedicated to holding the UN accountable to its founding principles, described Saudi Arabia’s role as chair of the Women’s Rights Commission as “surreal” and likened the decision to “putting Dracula in charge of the blood bank. As chair, Saudi Arabia is now in a key position to influence the planning and decisions of the world’s top women’s right body.”

Hillel Neuer quoted in Israel’s Ynet, “’UNRWA helped Hamas kill our children’: Hostage’s mother demands UN accountability,” March 8, 2025:

The UN should apologize for the fact that many UNRWA employees—including school principals and teachers—were exposed as participants in the October 7 massacre and helped hold hostages in UNRWA facilities and employees’ homes, Instead of being fired and prosecuted, the UN has the audacity to claim that the real victims are UNRWA employees.

In January 2024, A UN Watch report revealed that UNRWA teachers celebrated the Oct. 7 massacre and called for the murder of Israeli Jews.
