August 12, 2019, GENEVA — The Swiss-based human rights group UN Watch today called on European Union foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini and UN human rights commissioner Michelle Bachelet to support a call for an emergency session of the 47-nation UN Human Rights Council into “alarming brutality by Chinese-backed Hong Kong police against pro-democracy protesters,” announced Executive Director Hillel Neuer.

Last month, UN Watch invited Hong Kong celebrity singer and pro-democracy activist Denise Ho to address the Geneva-based UNHRC, where she was repeatedly interrupted by the Chinese delegation.
